The Troy and Lansingburg school districts will be hiring three more school resource officers.

The awarding of a $375,000 federal "COPS" grant was announced today. U.S. Attorney Rich Hartunian says the S-R-O's establish important relationshships with students and in many cases those relationships make a huge difference.

As far as when they do get in trouble, another grant - for $8,000 - will be used to establish a "Peer Court" an alternative to the juvenile justice system for low-level offenders.
