WalletHub.com analyzed different statistics to identify the "Best and Worst States for Working Moms." New York ranks 5th. Broken down, that's 10th in child care, 7th in professional opportunities and 21st in Work-Life balance.

First overall is Oregon, followed by Washington D-C, Vermont and Maine. Massachusetts is #9. Louisiana is last.

While women now comprise roughly half of the American workforce, they make about 2/3 as much as men and have far less upward mobility, as evidenced by the fact that less than 5% of Fortune 500 companies have female chief executives. Even the new crop of high-profile female CEOs seems to be drastically underpaid relative to their peers.
