A horse with local ties who ran in this year's Kentucky Derby has been euthanized.

Intense Holiday - owned by Duanesburg native Don Lucarelli's Starlight Racing - suffered a fracture while training at Belmont Park late last month.

Afterwards, the horse underwent surgery and was retired but the colt still developed lamitis in both forelegs leading to the decision to put him down.

Intense Holiday placed 12th in the Kentucky Derby this year.
