On Sunday, August 17, around 9:45 p.m. the Warren County Sheriff’s Office was called to a report of a pick-up truck driving erratically at the Lake George Escape Campground on East Schroon River Rd. in Lake George.

Police say Edward Lewis, 52, of Hopewell Junction was speeding his 2014 Dodge Ram pick-up through the campground and spinning its tires. When a group of campers tried to intervene and at one point stood in the road to stop the truck, Lewis allegedly accelerated and hit a pedestrian, causing him minor injuries, police said.

Lewis took off and was found later at his campsite and arrested, police said. He is charged with Reckless Endangerment and Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Accident, both misdemeanors. Lewis was sent to the police lock-up. The person who was hit was treated for his injuries at the scene by Lake George EMS, according to investigators.

The arrest was made by Sheriff’s Patrol Officer W.M. Backus.  The New York State Police assisted at the scene.
