Electric Zoo Organizers Unveil Mandatory Anti-Drug PSA

Posted August 6th, 2014 @ 12:32pm

Anyone headed to this year's Electric Zoo festival has some new required viewing to take care of first.

Organizers have released a two-minute anti-drug PSA that all attendees will have to watch before they can activate their wristbands for the New York City EDM event later this month.  The video was directed by "Sopranos" and "Dexter" writer James Manos Jr., and is part of Electric Zoo's new "Come to Life" campaign.

The campaign and video is meant to make festival-goers think about the potential negative consequences of taking MDMA, Molly, or other psychedelics and avoid those risks.

Last year, the Electric Zoo festival was cut short following a pair of deadly drug overdoses.  To avoid repeating history, organizers also plan to increase the amount of undercover police officers, add drug-sniffing dogs, and conduct background checks on all of the on-site vendors and employees.

The 2014 edition of the Electric Zoo festival is scheduled to take place August 29th through the 31st at Randall's Island Park.  Some of the acts taking part include David Guetta, Zedd, Kaskade, and many more.  The full lineup is available at
