BREAKING: Woodstock 50 Officially Cancelled

Setback after setback after setback and finally, Woodstock promoter Michael Lang has pulled the plug on the plagued festival. In a statement Wednesday, Lang said:

We are saddened that a series of unforeseen setbacks has made it impossible to put on the Festival we imagined with the great line-up we had booked and the social engagement we were anticipating.

The festival was originally set to take place at Watkins Glen Race Track August 16-18 with a lineup that included Woodstock originals including Dead & Company, John Fogerty and more. Plus contemporary artists Halsey, Miley Cyrus and Imagine Dragons. The festival had been plagued by mass gathering permits, investors pulling out, loss of potential sites for the festival - and finally artists dropping off one by one. Organizers had hoped to move the festival to a the Merriweather Post Pavillion in Maryland and make it a free show, but with only weeks to go, they finally threw in the towel.

No word on when the Netflix documentary is coming out, but you can be sure they're working on it.

RIP Woodstock 50.
