Drive-In Theaters May Be Allowed To Open

Drive-In movie theaters may very well be open for business this spring. Governor Cuomo said Empire State Development is looking into making them an exception to the mandate that all non-essential businesses remain closed. It's not clear what kind of guidelines would be in place such as additional spacing between vehicles and social distancing in the concession line, however in his briefing over the weekend, the Governor appeared more than open to the idea:

Where is the public safety issue? It’s a drive-in theater. You’re in the car with the same people.

Even though most movies planned for summer have been pushed back, theaters would likely run previously released features.
