Ozzy Osbourne Returns With First New Album In 10 Years, 'Ordinary Man'

2019 American Music Awards - Roaming Show And Backstage

Ozzy Osbourne has returned with his first album in a decade.

Last night (February 21), the Prince of Darkness unveiled his twelfth studio album,Ā Ordinary Man. The album comes in light of an onslaught of serious ongoing medical concerns for the rocker, who suffered what he called ā€œthe worst year of his lifeā€ in 2019.

Despite the health hurdles he endured to complete his latest LP ā€” which features appearances from the likes ofĀ Post MaloneĀ andĀ Elton JohnĀ ā€” Ozzy maintains the project was a life-saver. ā€œThe album has saved my life,ā€ he told theĀ Daily Beast, reflecting on his condition. ā€œBefore I started work, I was just lying there thinking, ā€˜Poor old me.ā€™ The album got me out of bed. Some days Iā€™d do an hour or two, other days four or five. It was the best medicine I could have, because it stopped me thinking about how I might end up a cripple.ā€

The 11-track offering includes previously released records like ā€œUnder the Graveyard,ā€ ā€œStraight to Hell,ā€ as well as the fan-favorite title track ā€œOrdinary Man,ā€ with added assistance from the Rocket Man himself. Listeners will also be charmed to know Posty not only appears on the loud anthemĀ ā€œItā€™s a Raid,ā€Ā but additionally on bonus track ā€œTake What You Want,ā€ which includes added verses from Houston-born emceeĀ Travis Scott.

Over the past 18 months, the musician has weatheredĀ a near-fatal staph infection, theĀ flu and pneumonia, and aĀ falling incidentĀ that has rendered him unable to commit to gigs. Sadly, even more misfortunes have befallen the star.

Last month, Ozzy revealed heā€™d been diagnosed withĀ Stage 2 Parkinsonā€™s disease. Due to rising medical concerns, the 71-year-oldĀ canceled his upcoming 2020 North American TourĀ as he continues to ā€œrecover from various health issues he has faced over the past year,ā€ according to his representative.
