Nick Cordero's Wife Says He's 'Slowly Recovering' From COVID-19

"Going In Style" New York Premiere - Inside Arrivals

Nick Cordero has had a tough battling the coronavirus, and though his condition took a turn for the worst earlier this week, the Broadway star's wife Amanda Kloots gave a more positive update via Instagram story on Sunday (May 24).

"So just a little Nick update. It's been a tough week," Kloots said in a series of videos. "Nick suffered from some new lung infection in his lungs earlier this week, and since then, he's been slowly recovering, which is great. Day by day, hour by hour, he is getting better. He is slowly getting back to where he was before this infection came about, and that's good."

"We're just hoping that he can come off some medications and that his settings on machines can come down," she continued. "Right now, we're just looking for slow, steady, small wins to keep him resting and recovering, which is great."

The actor, who's starred in musicals like Rock of Ages and Waitress, has been hospitalized since March and had his leg amputated last month due to complications from the virus. He was placed in a medically-induced coma after the surgery, which he woke up from earlier this month.

Every day since his hospitalization, Koots has shared clips of people performing Corero's song "Live Your Life" on her Instagram story.

"Everyday 3pm PST/6pm EST we sing Nicks song, Live Your Life," she captioned a video of herself and their son Elvis singing the song. "You guys have joined me now for 42 days, cheering Nick on to wake up and get off the vent. This rollercoaster has been a wild one with the highest of highs and the lowest of lows, but the support and energy that comes at 3pm ALWAYS puts me on a high! Thank you for singing and dancing with me everyday! Thank you for the thoughts and prayers, the DM’s, the cards, flowers, help, meals and gifts. We have had a tough week but Nick showed us yet again how strong he is and we are back on an uphill climb."
