Is Albany Going To Cut 1st Responders To Save Money?

In an attempt to save money, the city of Albany MAY introduce a plan that will cut job for both city police and firefighters. Cutting 15 police officers would save about $1.6 Million and 27 firefighters over the next 4 years would save $1.2 Million.

These are actually recommendations from the PFM Group whose goal is to ease the fiscal stress on the city and help Albany get away from State aid.

Do I personally think that cutting those jobs is the best way to save the city money? Absolutely not! It never makes sense to me when any city or state makes cuts to necessary jobs, especially the jobs of 1st responders. Now granted, these are just recommendations and they're only 2 of about 50, but why are they an option? But that's just my quick 2 cents.
