Research giant Morninstar put out a new list of malls all over the Country that could shut their doors by the end of this year. One of those malls is Colonie Center.
Basically what they're saying is that the "Sears Effect" is going to do such damage to the mall as a whole that they'll have to close the mall. So, what's the "Sears Effect"? Basically what they're saying is that when a Sears closed down in a mall "it effectively creates a vacuum in the commercial real estate market that sucks other retailers into the abyss. "
I guess time will tell if this is going to happen to Colonie Center or now. I can't really see it becoming a reality with the amount of business that mall does but I've been wrong about plenty of things in the past.
