Oscar Mayer says that hot dogs are in fact a sandwich. I don't agree with that. I say that hot dogs are in their own category. They're hot dogs. I never once asked my Mom for a sandwich for lunch when I was a kid and she brought me a hot dog. I've never thrown 12 slices of ham or turkey on the grill at a cookout.
Do I see the argument? Sort of, I guess? It's meat on a roll which would be more of a sub than a sandwich but for me, a sandwich is sliced meat of some kind on 2 slices of bread or on a roll. Not a tube of meat (weird to type that) on a roll with ketchup, mustard, meat sauce, onions, relish or whatever you might put on your dogs.
Now you tell me what you think, is a hot dog a sandwich?
