If you live in Bethlehem or anywhere in the Capital Region, you might want to be careful if you get pulled over by an "unmarked" police car. Authorities in Bethlehem are investigating reports of a police impostor.
The incident happened on Friday on 9W near Church Road. The driver was pulled over by a black Chevy Sedan. Its said that the vehicle had red and blue flashing lights on the dashboard and no plates on the front.
Police aren't sure if this "impostor" was trying to actually commit a crime or if they were just out messing with people. Either way, it's illegal to impersonate a law enforcement official so if they find this person it's safe to say that they're going to get in some trouble for it.
If you are suspicious when you're being pulled over by an unmarked car then you can do a few things. One thing is to put on your four-way flashers and drive to a well lit area before you pull over. Keep in mind that that doesn't mean that you speed up away from the vehicle that's "pulling you over". You can also Google the police department that is pulling you over and call them to verify that it's an actual police officer pulling you over.
