The Momo Challenge was all over the news and social media this week. I posted about it earlier in the week. You can see my original post here. To say the least, this thing had parents on edge all over the country and or World.
BUT, is this Momo Challenge a hoax or is it a real thing? I've seen numerous stories saying that it was a hoax or at best a phishing scheme to get kids to give their personal info. The Atlantic has a story about it not being real. CLICK HERE for that. The Washington Post has a story about it not being real as well. CLICK HERE for that. Those are just a few examples of us being told that it was all hype and that there's nothing to worry about.
Seeing those stories helped us to know that the Momo Challenge wasn't really a thing. However, I found this video that shows Momo showing up in a Pepa Pig video. Momo says that "she's" going to kill you and goes on to tell the person watching the video to harm themselves. Keep in mind that there are plenty of sick people out there that could be posting these videos or hacking into them and adding these. Little kids are easily influenced and this could scare them into thinking that this thing is going to come find them.
So, the Momo Challenge may be a "hoax" but there is something or someone out there posting these videos. Point is, keep an eye on what your kids are watching on their phones or tablets.
Below is the video that I found.
