Another Phone Scam In Albany

If you get a phone call from someone claiming they're from the Social Security Administration, you might want to just hang up on them. Albany Police are saying that people have been getting calls from the SSA and they're telling them that there is a warrant for their arrest with the local police. They follow that up with asking for personal bank info to deal with the warrant. By personal bank info, I mean your Social Security number. The caller then says that IF you do not provide that personal info then you will be arrested.

As I said in the first sentence, if you get one of these calls, hang up. DO NOT give them your personal information.

Some other tips from the police - do not give out personal, credit or banking information out to unverified source. Be aware of high pressure techniques, like the need to give out information right away.

If you think someone is trying to defraud you, then call the Albany police right away (518)438-4000
