A mother in Newark, NJ is facing 2 counts of endangering the welfare of a child - education neglect. Ok, for one, I had no idea that that was an actual charge but then again my kids haven't missed that much school.
The Mother's name is Chantel Kemble, who's 2 kids missed 35 and 37 days of school with unexcused absences. So, they haven't been in school for almost 20% of the year. Apparently there are some issues at home with Kemble's boyfriend. You can get the full story by CLICKING HERE
On a personal note, I think that being arrested for something like this is a bit extreme. I fully understand that education is important and as a parent, I try to make sure that my kids are in school and getting their education. BUT, to arrest someone for their kids not coming to school? Like I said, for me, it's a bit much. I'm not exactly sure what should be done. What do you think? Should she have been arrested?
