Back To School 2020

Sending our kids back to school this year will be different for every single one of us. There will be anxiety. There will be loads of questions. There will be doubt.

I'm here to let you know that all of that is okay, for you, your child and the teachers. None of us have ever done this before. It is all brand new. There will be bumps in the road and there will be on the fly learning experiences as well. We all need to try our best to not lose our cool and explode on anyone. For parents, keep in mind that this is new for the teachers and school staff. For teachers and school staff, keep in mind that this is all new for parents and the kids. We will all be doing our best to handle this school year the best we can. Do all that you can to make the most of it. Keep in mind that we all want what's best for everyone.

As a parent, I understand the apprehension we have to send our kids back into schools. None of us are really sure what will happen as the year goes on. Is it best to send the kids back into school? Is it best that they continue with remote learning only? Do I have the answer to either of those questions? Absolutely not! None of us have the right answer, right now. Like I said, none of us have gone through something like this before. It is up to YOU to do what YOU think is right for your child. Nobody can make that decision for you. Nobody can tell you what's best for your child.

Teachers, I know that this year is an extremely challenging year for you. Like all of the parents, you have never had to deal with this situation before either. I cannot speak for all parents, but I trust you and know that you will do what's best for your students. I understand that your backs are against the wall and you are doing all that you can to make things as "normal" as possible. You all have my total support going into this school year. The only thing I can suggest is that you make sure to communicate with the parents of your students so that we can help you make things as easy as possible for both you and our kids.

Like last school year, this one will be like no other that you have dealt with. It will be tough at times but overall will be another memorable year for all involved. I hope that everyone has a safe, healthy and successful year.
