On October 4, 1987 Albany was hit with a surprise snow storm that caught the entire area by surprise. Because leaves were still on trees, the weight of the snow knocked power lines down all over the Capital Region, plow teams weren't quite ready, schools and businesses closed and life basically came to a stand still.
