Last month, the former manager of Mavis Discount Tire in Saratoga told investigators that indeed no brake work had been done to the limo that crashed a year ago, killing 20 people. He says parts were ordered and false invoices were issued in order to meet a corporate quota, although the parts were never installed. The defense for Nauman Hussein, the owner of the limo, says this proves that he did not know the vehicle was unsafe and that Mavis is liable.
Seventeen passengers, the driver, and two pedestrians were killed when the brakes failed when the limo approached the intersection of Routes 30 and 30A in Schoharie on October 6, 2018.
