An event that attracts thousands each year will not happen in 2020. And just like everything else, we have Covid-19 to thank.
It's been a staple the first weekend of October, where Main Street in Warrensburg is taken over by over 500 vendors. But this year, the Warrensburg Chamber of Commerce says the coronavirus pandemic makes it too risky and poses a public health hazard. In a press release, Chamber Executive Director Suzanne Tyler said:
We have been in frequent talks with local and state officials, as well as our partners in the community. We feel that it is our responsibility to help flatten the corona virus curve and keep our community safe.
The event was scheduled to take place October 2-4 and 2020 would have marked the 41st year for the annual garage sale. However, plans are underway for it to return October 1-2 2021.
