Jennifer Lopez's past continues to set her up for the future.

The triple threat appeared as a guest on Wednesday's (October 8) episode of the Las Culturistas podcast for a wide-ranging chat with hosts Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang about everything from her iconic role in Selena and being a track and field star when she was a kid to navigating tabloid and social media "noise."

Lopez also noted how her history of being a dedicated athlete and performer when she was younger gave her the drive and discipline needed to succeed, and that mindset has kept her going even decades into her career. It also gave her the experience required when facing challenges in her professional projects, such as the making of her new film Kiss of the Spider Woman, which hits theaters October 10.

"Everybody's like, what was the most challenging thing about this? What was the hardest thing? It was the time," she said, explaining how quickly the film came together. "It was so fast. It was four weeks of shooting for me and then they shot another four weeks, I think, the prison side of it."

While Lopez started learning her songs for the musical thriller "the minute I got the role," she said they didn't start rehearsing until a few weeks before filming began. She added that it was a "crash course" when they started filming, especially when they would film big, intricate musical numbers.

The film did eventually come together and had its New York City premiere earlier this week. At the event, Lopez's ex-husband Ben Affleck, whose production company Artists Equity co-produced the film, praised her "incredible" performance and lifted up others who made the film possible.
