Guy Gets Arrested After Crossing Icy Mohawk River

Rivers Casino called police when a man was seen standing on the broken ice of the Mohawk River Monday afternoon.

Police tried to get him to come back to the Schenectady side of the river, but the man was said to be unresponsive and shouting incoherently. He eventually made it to the Glenville side where police picked him up.

Lucky for this guy, he picked a spot where there was enough ice jammed up, so he wouldn't fall through. The rescue squads eventually talked him off the ice and took him into custody for a mental health evaluation.

There are several long stretches of the river where remains unfrozen, or very thin at the least.
