If you've ever sat in traffic at the intersection of Route 146 & Route 146 A in Clifton Park during morning or afternoon drive, you know you'll need a few extra minutes. But traffic at one of the busiest intersections in the town is about to flow a bit easier this fall. Construction has begun on the town's first traffic circle, which is located where Market 32, Ocean State Job Lot, Upstate Concert Hall, Cumberland Farms, Stewart's and several other businesses all converge.
About 33,000 vehicles go through the intersection daily. Crews are hoping to keep traffic flowing as smooth as possible during construction, although they say there will be two dates during the summer when the intersection will be closed. No word yet on exactly when.
The new roundabout is expected to be open to traffic this fall.
